Instagram post 2186107865813686227_499098282 It’s been a total of seven years since I sat in a coffee shop on a rainy December day waiting for my husband to finish his Christmas shopping, scribbling in pencil feverishly, with the sights and sounds of Christmas around me and the most precious memories of Christmas in my heart.

The story I wrote has now become an illustrated Christmas children’s picture book. I am so touched to be able to share it with you now. “A Calisbury Christmas” is ready to order now in the hardcover edition on my website and on Amazon!

The first 50 orders from my site get an autographed copy.

I would like to thank Jason Kauffman and Jen Kauffman for being there when the ship of this book was sinking and giving me the needed funding to finish the illustrations—what a gift you gave me! I hope it somehow pays you back many times over. I would like to thank Annette Selle for staying in touch over the years to ask about this little book. I would like to thank my sister Jen again for being this book’s single most vocal cheerleader. Lorene Kauffman Stoltzfus for always being my biggest fan. Michelle Fink for telling me repeatedly this book had to make it. Mindy Durbin Schoeneman for just being Mindy—one of my dearest writing buddies and sometimes a life coach. Sarah Delena White for all the Climenhaga tea meetings to talk about books and history and more books. To Adrianna Vanderstelt for getting the story, bringing it to life, and sticking with me—you are my favorite artist. And my two graphic design professors (Professor Hettinga and Professor Kasparek) for being in my head while I wrangled the copy and layout of this book—I almost dare you to find an orphan or widow—this took 46 drafts. My husband Nathan Porter for thinking that it’s perfect (even though it’s not) and for helping me with the tech and photography.

To everyone on the original GoFundMe way back when…the fact that you believed in the message of this story means so much to me.

For an autographed copy through my website (and to get $3 off now through Black Friday), go to the link on the profile.
Instagram post 2185281634700591284_499098282 I am slightly frazzled. And I have a very big announcement coming in the next two days.
