One of the things bullet journaling helped me with was reduction. When you set that five minute timer (a must) and mindmap what your ideal life looks and feels like, a lot doesn't make it on the list.

That's what happened for me.

I was so busy, and life was so heavy.

But whatever didn't make it on the mind map, I simply cut out.

My first step in planning was that I stopped doing a lot of things. I stopped trying to have a perfect home and started trying to create habits that served me. I stopped trying to grow on social platforms when I wasn't sure why I was doing it. I took better care of myself instead.

That's why when we say we're too busy to "add more" with planning, it's like saying we're not flexible enough for yoga, or too exhausted for rest.

Which reminded me of my graphic design professors, both of them, saying, "reduction mode, Marisa. It's time for reduction mode. What can you take away?"
